Stars of SHOWTIME Series “Shameless” and “House of Lies” to Build Affordable Homes with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles on Sat., Oct. 25th

William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, Kristen Bell, Shanola Hampton and Ben Schwartz Set to Join Their Cast Members and Producers for Habitat for Humanity Build

Los Angeles, CA – October 21, 2014: Stars from the SHOWTIME original series “Shameless” and “House of Lies”, along with network executives, will volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) to help build houses for hardworking low-income homebuyers. Volunteers will help complete a seven-home neighborhood currently under construction in greater Los Angeles and their scope of work for the day will include the group working on siding, roofing and painting on the homes.

Los Angeles, CA — October 2, 2014: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) has partnered with the LA Lakers, LA Kings and Chivas USA to offer exclusive experiences at upcoming home games. The packages, currently open for bidding on auction website Charitybuzz, include autographs, player meet and greets, and the opportunity to be the “Honorary Ball Kid” at an upcoming LA Lakers game.

LA Kings Package:
Hockey Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille has autographed a Habitat for Humanity hat and T-shirt, which the winning bidder will receive along with a Drew Doughty autographed puck and two lower-level seats to a home game at STAPLES Center during the 2014-2015 season.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles Commemorates 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance with Special Build Events

Los Angeles, CA — September 29, 2014: Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) commemorated the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance with a series of build events that brought together veterans and active military, as well as communities from nearly every faith tradition, to help build four new homes in Lynwood between September 10th and 13th.

9/10: Veterans Build Day – Veterans and active military were among the volunteers who built with Habitat LA during this special build day. Also in attendance was Halley Burnett, the daughter of Tom Burnett, who was one of the “Let’s roll” heroes of hijacked United flight 93. Ms. Burnett shared her story, as did other volunteers, during an emotional lunch break.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles Celebrates Grand Opening of Newest ReStore Location in Bellflower

Ribbon Cutting and Community Recycle Event Scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 20th

Los Angeles, CA – September 17, 2014: On Saturday, September 20, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) will celebrate the grand opening of its third ReStore. From 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, the parking lot of the Bellflower ReStore location will host a community celebration with food trucks, giveaways, a live remote broadcast from The Sound FM Radio Station, plus recycling and donation opportunities for local residents.

ReStores are home improvement thrift stores which are open to the public and provide significant savings on a variety of items for the home. Since 2004, Habitat LA ReStores have helped divert more than 5,761,975 lbs of materials from local landfills. Habitat LA ReStores are located in Bellflower, Gardena and Norwalk.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles Celebrates 500th Home

LaTonya Thompson will receive keys to Long Beach home during dedication ceremony on Saturday, August 23rd

Los Angeles, CA – August 22, 2014:  On Saturday, August 23rd, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) will celebrate its 500th locally completed home during a dedication ceremony for new partner homeowner and single mother LaTonya Thompson. Ms. Thompson’s home has been named the Disciple’s House, having been built and partially funded by volunteers from several area churches. Attendees for Saturday’s event will include Long Beach city officials, staff, volunteers and representatives from supporting partners Lowe’s and Giveback Homes.

Ms. Thompson partnered with Habitat LA to purchase the newly constructed Long Beach home. All Habitat LA partner families participate in mandatory homeowner education classes and give up to 500 hours of sweat equity building their home and other Habitat LA homes. Framing for Ms.

Grifols Partners with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles as a Half House Sponsor

Build Day & $75,000 Check Presentation Set for August 6th

Los Angeles, CA – August 5, 2014: Grifols, a global healthcare company dedicated to improving people’s health and well being through the development of life-saving plasma medicines, diagnostics systems, and hospital pharmacy products, is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) as a Half House Sponsor. The partnership will include a donation of $75,000, as well as company build days. On August 6th, at the site of a seven-home neighborhood currently underway in Lynwood, Grifols volunteers will help with framing and conclude their day with the Grifols executive management team presenting a check to Habitat Los Angeles President and CEO, Erin Rank.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles Announces Catholic Coalition Partnership & Inaugural Build Event

First Coalition Build Set for Saturday, July 19th in Lynwood, CA

Los Angeles, CA – July 8, 2014: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) has formed a new partnership with local Catholic churches and organizations, which it is calling the Catholic Coalition. Through this partnership, volunteers from parishes and other affiliated organizations will join together for a common cause to make a significant impact on creating affordable and sustainable housing in the greater Los Angeles area. The Coalition will help raise $150,000 – the cost of a full house sponsorship – and then help build the home during planned build days between summer and spring 2015.

“We are excited and proud to have the Catholic Coalition as a new partner and look forward to many years of building hope, lives and communities together,” said Erin Rank, president and CEO, Habitat LA.

More Than 200 Women Begin Framing of Four New Habitat for Humanity Homes During 10TH Annual “Power Women Power Tools”

Lowe’s, Union Bank, & Sony Pictures Were the Top Sponsors of the Milestone Event

Los Angeles, CA – June 25, 2014: Construction commenced on four new Habitat for Humanity homes in Lynwood last Saturday, thanks to the more than 200 women who volunteered during the 10th Annual Power Women Power Tools (PWPT) event with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA). This year, the event put hundreds of professional women from various sectors, including corporate, entertainment, education and faith to work framing homes alongside more than twenty Habitat LA partner homeowners.

The four homes are part of a seven-home neighborhood currently in progress in Lynwood. The site will feature six homes that are two stories with three bedrooms and 2.5 baths and a three-bedroom, 1.5 bath single story home, which was designed by Michael Graves, a long-standing advocate for the disabled, to be handicap accessible.
