WHAT: Habitat for Humanity’s 5th Annual “Power Women, Power Tools” Event

WHERE: Sony Pictures Studios
Culver City, CA
(Parking Pass Required for Access)

WHEN: Saturday, May 16th
8:00 am to 5:00 pm

WHY: “Power Women, Power Tools” joins over 200 women volunteers from all industries to build homes for families in need. This year’s volunteers will be framing walls for use in the construction of 10 new sustainable homes in the City of Lynwood. HFH GLA was recently awarded LEED Silver Certification by the USGBC for 30 homes built in 2007 and is seeking the same for its new Lynwood neighborhood. This invitation-only event helps raise awareness of the affordable housing crisis in Los Angeles (where we rank last in the U.S. for housing affordability.) This year the attendees will be asked to go a step beyond framing walls and advocacy. HFH GLA is challenging volunteers to raise money for a Women Build home that will break ground during next year’s “Power Women, Power Tools” event.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF GREATER LOS ANGELES strives to eliminate poverty housing through advocacy, education and partnership with families in need to build simple, decent affordable housing. Since 1990, HFH GLA has built nearly 500 homes nationally and internationally, transforming the lives of hundreds of individuals. For more information, visit www.habitatla.org

About Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity:
Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity (HFHFH) is an entertainment industry partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles that launched in 2000 with a 20-house "blitz build.” HFHFH was founded by Screenwriter/Director Randall Wallace (Braveheart, We Were Soldiers) to encourage the entertainment industry to support Habitat for Humanity’s goal of eliminating substandard housing worldwide. HFHFH works with talent and industry leaders who support the organization through donations, volunteer hours and advocacy. Thousands of volunteers from the entertainment industry have helped build homes in the United States and around the world. www.hollywoodforhabitat.com
