LOCAL VOLUNTEERS RECOGNIZED FOR SERVICE & COMMITMENT TO END SUB-STANDARD HOUSING

Habitat for Humanity Staff & Partner Families Celebrate the Men & Women who Serve the Community at Volunteer Appreciation Event
Los Angeles, CA – June 4, 2009: This Saturday, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HFH GLA) will hold its Volunteer Appreciation Banquet at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center. Local volunteers who served twenty-four hours or more from January through December of 2008 will be honored. Volunteers who gave 100 hours or more of service will be presented with the President’s Award, a certificate signed by President Obama. Three individuals will receive special recognition - David Gardner and Robert Johnson, who volunteered more than 1,000 hours and Kathy Sasaki, who volunteered over 850 hours.

HFH GLA credits its remarkable volunteer workforce for its ability to successfully address the affordable housing crisis facing Los Angeles. This annual event is dedicated to all the volunteers and supporters who donate their time and support to help local families in need and is an opportunity to demonstrate to the community at large what is possible by working together.
