EVERYONE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE THIS SEASON WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF GREATER L.A’S CANNED FOOD DRIVE

As of: 12-08-2009
Los Angeles, CA – December 8, 2009: It’s time to celebrate the holiday season again and more importantly the season of giving. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HFH GLA) kicked off their annual holiday food and donation drive in their Home Improvement Store in Gardena this week. All non-perishable canned food and monetary donations will be donated to deserving families nominated by local churches.

Coming off one of the most challenging years for charitable donations, HFH GLA is hoping to make a difference this holiday season for local families in need. In 2008, The Home Improvement Store was able to make sure each family had enough food for the holidays, and with donated monies, each family had a turkey on their dinner table. In addition, after all food was disbursed, there was still enough left over to provide each family with $50 to help with holiday presents. HFH GLA depends on the generosity of volunteers and donors to build safe, affordable housing every year and through holiday donations the organization is able to help even more families in need during these tough times.

It’s simple to be a part of this great tradition. Clean out cupboards, pick up some extra cans at the store, or simply skip the latte and donate that money for a family in need. Plus, while dropping off donations take some time to shop used and new home items at discounted prices and discover all that the Home Improvement Store has to offer! All donations can be delivered to the Home Improvement Store at 17700 South Figueroa Street in Gardena & visit the website for more ways to donate. Share your experience on Facebook and follow @HabitatLA on Twitter.
