HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF GREATER LOS ANGELES HONORS ITS EXEMPLARY AMERICORPS MEMBERS & CALLS ON FUTURE MEMBERS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY

Los Angeles, CA – May 7, 2010: The Fourth Annual AmeriCorps Week kicks off Saturday May 8th to showcase the work done by AmeriCorps members in communities across the nation. The week also serves to educate people about the organization and inspire future members into action. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HFH GLA) will shine the spotlight on its nine current AmeriCorps members on Tuesday May 11th during a company Ice Cream Social.
AmeriCorps is a national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds an opportunity to meet critical community needs. Habitat for Humanity benefits from nine members who serve full-time in departments throughout the organization; Jessica Killeen, Gifts in Kind Coordinator; Melissa Killian, Youth Programs Coordinator; Brandon Long, Construction Crew Leader; Mai Nowlin, Volunteer Coordinator; Amy Rabb, Construction Crew Leader; Renne Sanchez, Family Services Coordinator; Chris Untiet, Faith & Community Relations Coordinator and Regina Wyatt, Home Improvement Store Volunteer Coordinator.
“AmeriCorps members give a year of their lives to serve with various organizations throughout the United States,” Erin Rank, President and CEO, HFH GLA. “I am always humbled and amazed by their generosity and willingness to serve at such a young age. I am proud to be able to work alongside each and every AmeriCorps member who serves with us.”
