June 21, 2010 – Los Angeles, CA – Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles is inviting low-income families to attend orientations this week and again in July to learn about homeownership opportunities in the city of Lawndale. Interested families must attend an orientation to learn about the application process and what it takes to partner with Habitat for Humanity to purchase a home. Qualified families must meet the income guidelines and agree to the program guidelines, which includes 500 hours of sweat equity in building their home. Orientations will be held June 23rd and 26th, and July 8th at Will Rogers Intermediate School, in Spanish and English.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles & City of Lawndale are hosting Homeownership Orientations on Wednesday, June 23 – English: 6 pm / Spanish: 7:15 pm; Saturday, June 26 – English: 10:30 am / Spanish: 11:15 am and Thursday, July 8 – English: 6 pm / Spanish: 7:15 pm
The orientations will take place at Will Rogers Intermediate School located at 4110 W. 154th Street, between Hawthorne & Prairie, in Lawndale, California.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles is partnering with the City of Lawndale to build and rehabilitate homes that will be available for purchase to qualifying low-income families. There is no residential requirement, however all applicants must meet income requirements, agree to pay back a zero-interest loan, put in 500 hours of “sweat equity” building their home and other Habitat homes and demonstrate the greatest need. All applicants are required to attend a homeowner orientation, as it is the first step in the application process. Orientations will be presented in English and Spanish.
