Long Beach, CA – April 15, 2016: Arts & Services for Disabled, Inc. (ASD) is thrilled to announce its 4th Annual Artbeat for Humanity Gala, which will be held on Saturday, June 18th at the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) in Long Beach. The event, dubbed COUNT ME IN!, is a multi-sensory celebration that encapsulates ASD’s commitment to inclusion, community support and orchestration. During the gala, ASD will honor Special Olympics Southern California and President/CEO Bill Shumard with the Ami & Remo Belli Humanitarian Award, which recognizes local community leaders.

“Our annual gala is always a great celebration for all the senses and this year will be no exception,” said Helen Dolas, founder/CEO of ASD. “We are thrilled to be presenting this year’s Ami & Remo Belli Humanitarian Award to Bill Shumard on behalf of Special Olympics Southern California. Many of our students are Special Olympics athletes and there is great synergy between our two organizations. We are inspired by their wonderful work.”

The look and feel of ASD’s gala is always inspired by student artwork and this year’s celebrated artist is Carlos Arredondo. Arredondo will participate as a host in the sensory experiential lounge during the cocktail reception and his signature piece will be unveiled later in the evening. Arredondo’s piece, along with most of the student created decor, will be available for purchase with proceeds supporting student artists and ASD’s programs.

Artbeat for Humanity, COUNT ME IN! is more of a sensory celebration, according to Dolas. “This is not your typical fundraising event. Our gala is an interactive experience that combines art, music, dance, and delicious food and wine. It’s the event of the year that thinks it’s a gala!”
