Bentley Prince Street Receives Inaugural Climate Leadership Award

California’s Largest Commercial Carpet Manufacturer Honored By EPA for Excellence in Green House Gas Reductions

[City of Industry, CA – March 7, 2012:] Bentley Prince Street, Inc. has received an inaugural Climate Leadership Award for Excellence in Green House Gas (GHG) Management (Goal Setting).  Winners were announced yesterday by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Association of Climate Change Officers (ACCO), the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) (formerly the Pew Center on Global Climate Change), and The Climate Registry (TCR). The awards recognize corporate, organizational, and individual leadership in addressing climate change and reducing carbon pollution. From setting and exceeding aggressive emissions reduction goals to reducing the emissions associated with shipping goods, these organizations are improving efficiency, identifying energy and cost saving opportunities, and reducing pollution.  The awards were handed out during the inaugural Climate Leadership Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

“We strongly believe that having a positive impact on people and the planet adds to the quality of our products, makes them more valuable to our customers and, ultimately, makes Bentley Prince Street more profitable,” says Anthony Minite, president of Bentley Prince Street. “This notion is the guiding force in our approach to setting GHG reduction goals and we are thrilled to be recognized for our efforts with an inaugural Climate Leadership Award.”

“I commend Bentley Prince Street on its exemplary leadership in cutting carbon pollution that harms our climate and threatens our health,” said Gina McCarthy, assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation. “Bentley Prince Street and all of our Climate Leadership Award winners demonstrate that organizations who are taking action to mitigate climate change are also operating more efficiently, more innovatively, and more competitively.”

Bentley Prince Street was recognized for establishing aggressive GHG reduction goals with the award for Excellence in GHG Management (Goal Setting).   Bentley Prince Street joins an elite group of 20 companies and one individual honored including Campbell Soup Company, Ford Motor Company, Gap Inc., Hasbro, Intel Corporation, IBM, Port of Los Angeles, UPS, and SC Johnson.
